See Florence from above
from 02/01/12 to 31/12/12
Now the walls are gone but the tower remains and it is the only one that can be climbed safely. In total you will climb 160 steps until you arrive at the height of Piazzale Michelangelo on one part, whilst on the other you have the entire city at your feet.
To visit the tower you will need to make a reservation: tel. +39 055 2768224  or  +39 055 2768558.

Or you can climb the Cupola (dome). This truly is a breathtaking experience: challenging but thrilling. At one point you can step outside and you will find yourself walking on the narrow balcony which surrounds the cupola roof: here you can experience the frescoes of Vasari and Zuccari up close, beautiful angels and horrifying devils… and then back inside in the middle of the  two shells, in the manner of construction invented by Brunelleschi.

On the top of the dome, after 465 steps, there is a lamp, from which the light enters with a circular terrace with a 360° view…mind the wind!!
It is open daily from 8:30 – 19:00, Saturdays from 8:30 – 17:40, Sundays closed.

Also in Piazza Duomo, it is possible  to climb the Campanile (bell tower) designed by Giotto, again armed with courage, there are about 400 steps….
Open daily from 8:30 to 17:30
After this, if you are tired of stairs, you could take the bus nr. 12 from the city center to get to Piazzale Michelangelo which is a panoramic balcony of Florence…you could also arrive there by a ramp, but we won’t tell you…
